Digital Biosciences is developing SepsisDx, a platform for rapidly detecting sepsis biomarkers in urine. Our technology is designed to meet the needs of low-resource environments. It is low-cost, portable, and battery powered.
SepsisDx is focused on an assay mechanism that offers high sensitivity and specificity without extensive development of new biochemical interactions. For this, we are using a sandwich immunoassay to detect sepsis biomarkers found in urine.
Blood draws are the standard detection mechanism for sepsis, but in low-resource settings blood analysis requires significant resources and is labor intensive. In these settings, the analysis of urine is considerably more practical for the early detection of sepsis.
SepsisDx is a non-invasive, rapid, point-of-care technology that includes an assay microfluidic chip, a detector, and machine-learning decision support and will require minimal human interaction.
